Bath Lifts And Toilet Seat Lifts
There are many areas of the house that can be dangerous if you are mobility challenged. Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among people over the age of 65 and falls in the bathroom can be very dangerous. This is in part because of the very hard and unforgiving surfaces that are in the bathroom and if the floor is wet than it can be even more treacherous.
Using the toilet and taking a bath are perhaps two of the most personal things that you can do at home. If you are at all unsteady, aside from the stairs, they also can present one of the most dangerous places in the home. For some it can be embarrassing to rely on someone to help get onto and off of the toilet. This can also be expensive if you must hire someone to help. People who are mobility challenged commonly use a bath lift and a toilet seat lift to help solve these problems.
There are several personal lifts for the bathroom that can greatly improve safety. One of most common types of lifts is the bath lift. Bath lifts are secured to the floor of the bathtub and provide a seat or bench that raises and lowers an individual into the bath. These units typically use very strong suction cups and do not require any modification to the actual bath tub. There are several different models and types, but most utilize a special battery. A quality bath lift will not lower into the tub unless the battery has enough of a charge to rise again. There is also a model that is powered entirely by water. This unit uses no electricity and instead a special fitting is added to the shower head. A bath lift is a device that can be traveled with fairly easily. One accessory that can greatly improve a bath lifts functionality is the swivel seat. This makes the transfer into and out of the bath lift much easier.
Getting into and out of the bathtub can be one of the most difficult tasks in the bathroom, but using the bathroom can also present an obstacle. There are a few different types of toilet seat lifts, but most can be installed without actually altering the toilet area. A toilet seat lift can also be used to lower a person onto the toilet, and many have adjustable armrests for increased support. Probably the best selling toilet seat lift is the Tush Push. 2. The Tush Push 2 can support up to 500 pounds and has removable armrests. It installs easily and without toilet medication and is commonly used as a travel aid.
Both of these devices are frequently used in the home as well as professional care facilities. They greatly improve independence, restore dignity, and are almost like having your own personal assistant in the bathroom. If you have any trouble at all getting onto or off the toilet or taking a bath, than a bath lift or toilet seat lift may be for you.

History of a Bathtub
The bathtub is known for more than one thousand years. The most ancient baths, discovered during excavations of Cronos's palace on Isle of Crete, date back to III century B.C. The ceramic baths discovered by archeologists were 2500 years old, but they were very similar to modern ones. By the way, one of the first bronze baths was discovered during excavations at Pompeii. At that time the baths were made of marble and terracotta. We also know that rich citizens of Greece and Rome had silver and even golden pools.
During excavations in one ancient city in India the archeologists discovered baths which age was more than 5 thousand years! Those "washing containers" were in each house of that city and its water facilities were very circumspect.
So even in old time people have appreciated curative properties of water. There is another historical fact. 2 thousand years ago sacred Hindu books "Science of life" contained the following phrase: "The water current is curative; water cools the fever heat and cures any illness".
Culture of washing and stance on cleanliness of human body during different ages were reflected in design and accessories of bathrooms. One would think that Spartans, bent on religion of strength and health, did not know anything of bathrooms. Besides, they washed only in cold water because they feared to run into a sin of delicacy.
The religion of water blossomed in Ancient Rome. From history we know, that bathrooms were in many private dwellings. Public baths, or "terms" worked regularly, too. By the way, the word "bath" came from a Latin word "balneum" - "to banish the pain". 200 years B.C. nearly 1000 terms worked in Rome! They had been built under the decree of emperors and named by their names. For example, terms of emperor Karkalla were especially perfect. Every term could contain 2300 persons at a time. There were hot and cold water pools, rooms with individual baths, steam baths and massage rooms. People came to terms not just to wash off the dirt but to relax: to have a rest, to listen to lectures of philosophers and to have a walk in patio gardens. So even then there were some kinds of membership clubs. And in magnificent bathrooms of Emperor Nero it was possible to arrange true feasts and to combine "useful" and "pleasant".
The Roman sin of pleasant and long bathing was unacceptable for severe middle ages. People washed themselves on rare occasions. At the most a bath was a tile-fronted reservoir or a round wooden tub filled with hot water. The tub was an article of luxury; it was granted for rent from house to house. For the purpose of hot water saving in one tub at a time usually washed two people.
In order to keep the water hot, in ХVШ century had been invented and used closed "baths-boots" which were about one meter long. There is one more historical fact about baths. One of French revolution leaders Marat had been killed by a dagger in such bath-boot.
French coppersmith Level in XVII century had set a mass production of metal baths in Europe. He had invented a geyser. For very long time his invention had been out of competition and hadn't any, more perfect, analogues.
During the reign of Queen Victoria, new devotees of cleanliness placed hip metal baths right in their bedrooms near the mantelpieces that allowed to nimble owner to take the water procedures promising health and longevity right after sleep. A sign of coming century was a cult of health and sports.
A sparkling nickel bath and a white tile in the bathroom had become typical in houses at the beginning of XX century. A large window in the bathroom was a necessity because the bathroom had to be filled with fresh air. In bathrooms of that period of time there were also mantelpieces, shower cabins with nickel-plated rails for taking shower while sitting in wicker chair; large bathtub where a group of people could be washed at a time; monumental marble washstand and huge water-closet...
Time goes by. Increasing opportunities of people give rise to increased demand on modern sanitary means. Culture of washing and stance on cleanliness of a human body during different ages were reflected in design and accessories of bathrooms. Nowadays, abundance of market grants to consumer almost boundless freedom of choice of bathroom design. In short, the bathroom is to be not only a place of your body hygiene, but also a place where your soul can rest.

Bathroom Floor Tile - Important Considerations When Choosing Tiles For Your Bathroom
Choosing the right Bathroom Floor Tile is by far the most important decision you need to make when designing a bathroom. Tiles last a very long time and one does not need to change them often, it is imperative to get them right the first time.
Keeping that under consideration, here are some important buying guidelines and tips that could help you make the right choice and prevent you from buying the wrong Bathroom Floor Tile.
1. Think of how the finished Bathroom Flooring job will look, what sort of style are you after.
It is imperative to imagine how the tiles would look like once on the floor, and to consider the budget you have for the tiles and who would execute the Floor Tile installation for you.
2. Get accurate measurements of the bathroom.
Once you have decided on the style of Bathroom Floor Tile for your bathroom floor, next comes the measurement part. Without the exact measurements of the floor, it would be difficult to estimate the quantity of tiles required to do the bathroom.
In case you intend to cover the walls with the same tiles then that needs to be measured too.
Without proper measurement you could end up buying lot more and thus wasting money; or buying a lot less, running the risk of same design not being available.
3. Hunting for tiles -Thinking about budget, tile types, styles and sizes.
After we decide on the style of Bathroom Tile and have the measurements, it is time to find the right tile.
Depending on the amount of space that needs to be covered, it would be important to see what kind of tiles suit the budget.
Various kinds of tiles like ceramic, vitrified are available in different price ranges.
If you intend to cover the walls with the tiles as well, remember to choose a tile color for the wall which is lighter as compared to the ones on the floor. It is also important to select the right size and weight of Bathroom Floor Tile.
If one chooses smaller tiles for the bathroom, it would generally cost more money and time for installation.
There are some who believe that smaller tiles aesthetically better than the larger ones, but it is really just about personal preference.
4. Choosing the right color of the Bathroom Floor Tile.
The choice of color also needs some consideration as there is a large variety of colors and designs available making it more difficult to select.
Although white is a very common color, one could add more style by selecting a combination of colors and designs.
Whatever color is selected, the over -all color scheme and style (decor) of the bathroom should be considered.
5. Choose a Tile which will last.
Last but not the least, the long term life of the tiles should be considered.
For added water protection, choose glazed tiles. Glazing is a process whereby the tile manufacturers coat the surface of the tiles and re-fire it. This provides added water protection by preventing absorption of water into the tiles and safeguarding the ceramic beneath the surface.
Hoping these tips will provide some assistance to you in locating and purchasing the right and appropriate Bathroom Floor Tile for your bathroom.
